Water Garden Pride With Cobra Lily
This installation is my love letter to movement, color, and joy—a nod to The Gates by Christo, reimagined through the lens of queerness. It’s meant to be felt as much as seen: ribbons catching wind, casting shadows, shifting with the light. Playful but grounded, immersive but fleeting, chaotic and soft all at once. For Pride, I wanted to create something you don’t just look at—you move through it and carry it with you. A moment of color and motion that doesn’t need to explain itself, just invites you to feel.
Cobra Lily began in 2018 when founder Jake Kale wanted to find a way to merge his background in fine arts, music video production, and his love of flowers. The name ‘Cobra Lily’ is inspired by the carnivorous pitcher plant Darlingtonia californica, as well as our love for the alluring and feared snake.
With our hands in both direct-to-client orders as well as working in fashion, editorial and set design, Cobra Lily is fast-becoming a floral studio recognized for a 21st century aesthetic that is vivid and unpredictable, garnering the attention of Vogue and Essence Magazines and serving influential clients across Southern California.
